PHOTOVAC KEEPS SUPPORT FOR SYNRAD OBSOLETE PRODUCTS AFTER SYNRAD END OF LIFE ANNOUNCEMENT FOR OBSOLETE PRODUCTS - updated August 2007
To all Synrad customers and distributors
As you are all aware, over the past year it has grown increasingly difficult for us to obtain the necessary parts required to repair certain models of obsolete Synrad products. Our internal policy is to provide product support for 7 years following the obsolescence of a product, and we have done our best to adhere to, if not exceed, this policy. But we have reached a point where we simply can no longer support certain products. Effective immediately, Synrad will no longer offer service on the following products:
All 48 Series lasers manufactured prior to December 31, 1995:This includes all lasers built with rev G or earlier, all AC lasers, and if date of manufacture is not known, you can use the following serial numbers as a guide: any 10W lasers with a serial number of 3189, any 25W lasers 2964, and any 50W lasers 988. All these lasers were built with Driver 3 RF boards, and it is these RF boards that were rendered obsolete in 1996. We can no longer obtain parts to produce more Driver 3 boards, and these older lasers are not physically compatible with newer Driver 4 electronics. There is simply no cost effective method available to repair these older lasers, and we recommend that customers simply retire these lasers and replace with newer L version lasers that comply with all the new ROHS and CE standards while in most cases also being drop in replacements to your current lasers.
All scientific/custom wavelength lasers built prior to 1998:
This includes all grating tunable and invar stabilized lasers, all Carbon Monoxide lasers, and all special isotopes including CO2 lasers.
All Classic 57/60 Series lasers (57-1, 57-2, 60-1, 60-2 models)
This family of lasers was retired in 1998, and the critical electronics used in these lasers are no longer being manufactured. Our Evolution series and associated RF3000 RF power supplies are virtual drop in replacements, however.
All SH and DH Series Marking Heads
The SH head was retired in 1998, and the DH head was replaced in 1999 by the FH series. We are unable to procure many of the required parts needed to repair these older heads, and the scarcity of these obsolete parts renders the costs of repairing these heads high enough that purchasing a new FH head is a more cost effective decision. While the FH heads are not entirely drop in replacements for your SH or DH heads, our sales and technical support department can work with you to facilitate the path towards the newest technology.
UC-1000, CA-48, SSC-1000, CH-2000 The UC-1000 was replaced by the UC-2000 Universal Controller in the year 2000. The price of carrying such a small inventory of replacement parts for the obsolete UC-1000 has rendered it cost prohibitive to repair. The UC-2000 is virtually a drop in replacement, while offering many more features than its obsolete counterpart. The other controllers were models that pre-dated the UC-1000 and/or were special/custom configurations. We apologize for any concerns or inconveniences this announcement causes you, and we will do our best to make new/replacement products available to you with minimal lead times.
NEW GENERATION OF FIBER OPTIC CRUCIBLES BY PHOTOVAC LASER

COHERENT G-50 and G-100 NOTICE
..................Many customers have reported to Photovac Laser, that Coherent Laser Inc. is no longer providing repair support services for these laser tube models. Photovac will continue to support their laser tubes with a limited amount of spare parts. Different versions of Radio Frequency boards has caused numerous problems within the internals of the laser tube. While some laser tubes are repairable with the newer version boards, the older versions can be damaged beyond repair. Photovac is making every attempt to find the correct spare parts to extend the life of these tubes. Unfortunately, while we are able to repair many of these tubes, some are just unable to be repaired.
